Practice Makes Perfect
Almost every prospect who reaches out to us would ask "how many mocks do I get?", which surfaces their underlying assumption: interview prep = do more mocks.
Let's pressure test this assumption together.
Is that causation, or correlation?
You can do 50 mock interviews.
You can feed AI your stories and get back perfectly worded responses.
You can get insider tips.
Is that all it takes?
There's more to it.
Yes, people who ace interviews often did mock interviews.
That's the correlation.
They didn't succeed because they did more mocks.
They succeeded because somewhere in that process, they learned to think differently about what's being asked. The mocks were just the practice ground for that shift.
Here's an example of what I mean: Let's think through the prompt "How do you help your team move faster?"
Most candidates' stories are around creating a sense of urgency and accountability. Dive deep to unblock any issues or roadblocks. Quickly identify and remove obstacles.
These are correct answers, but surface-level.
Because they never addressed the root causes: What actually slows teams down to begin with?
Unclear priorities? Bottlenecks in decision-making? Low performers dragging the pace?
When your "how" addresses the root causes, your answers will come from a deeper place.
This is the difference.
Clear communication first starts with clear thinking, which starts with defining the question and not rushing to answer it.
It's the same technique we use in Product Sense/Strategy, but most people don't apply it to behavioral interviews.
When you take the time to really understand what's being asked, what the crux of the question is, your answer becomes sharper, more strategic, more memorable.
That's what moves the needle.
The causation is clear thinking.
The correlation is more mocks, more AI polish.
Clearer thinking is what makes you sound senior.
It doesn't come from practicing more because motion is not the same as progress.
AI can help to a certain degree, but only if it is actually trained to help with deeper thinking.
If it's taking a while to convert your interviews to offers, the root issue is probably the depth of your thinking, not your polish, and that is what we are up to with our clients.
